Google Meet – Video Conferencing

Google Meet is a simple yet powerful communication tool that can be used to video conference with anyone with the following services available:

  • Internet connection
  • Chrome Web Browser or Google Meet App
  • Device Microphone / Speaker and Camera
  • Your MC Google account
Please make sure you are signed into your MC Google Account, you may need to sign out of your other google accounts if you have personal accounts.

Start a video meeting from your web browser

If you need a quick answer from a team member, you can start an instant meeting in a web browser. If someone sends you a meeting link URL, simply click the link to join the call. Note: You can send the meeting link to people outside of your organization, but someone from within your organization needs to give them access to the video meeting.

In your chrome browser

  1. enter
  2. Click Start a new meeting > Start meeting.
  3. Click Copy joining info to copy the meeting link details and share the details with your guests.

From your google apps

1. Sign into your MC google account

2. Select the Google Apps icon from the top right of your screen


3. Scroll down your available apps and select Meet


4. Select Join or start a meeting.

5. Press Continue to start your meeting, you can create a nickname or leave it blank. Enter the meeting code to join a meeting if you wish.

Schedule a video meeting in calendar

It’s easy to schedule a Meet video meeting in Google Calendar—just create an event and add your guests to it. A video meeting link can be added to a calendar event either by adding one or more guests to the event, or by clicking on Add conferencing. After you save the event, a meeting link and dial-in number are added to the event.

Note: Guests can forward the meeting link to other people. If someone tries to join who was not invited to the Calendar event, a meeting participant from your organization must accept their request.

In your chrome browser

  1. Go to Google Calendar and create an event.
  2. Click on Add conferencing and select Hangouts Meet.
  3. On the Guests tab, go to Add guests to invite guests from inside or outside your organization.
  4. Click SAVE.
  5. Click Send to notify guests.

Guests receive an email with the event information and a link to the video call.

Join with a meeting code

You can join a meeting by entering the meeting code, which is the unique code at the end of the meeting link.

  1. In a web browser, enter
  2. Click Use a meeting code.
  3. Enter the meeting code and click Join.

Join with a meeting link URL

With Hangouts Meet, you can join an impromptu video meeting by clicking the meeting link URL sent to you in a text or email.

  1. In your Chrome Browser click the meeting link sent to you in a text or email.
  2. Follow the onscreen prompts to join the meeting.

Join a scheduled meeting via google calendar

You can manually join a scheduled meeting from your calendar using your chrome browser.

  1. Open your Google Calendar
  2. Click the event you want to join.
  3. Click Join Hangouts Meet and in the window that opens, click Join Meeting.

Join from Meet

You can join a meeting from within the Google Meet app directly

  1. Once signed into your google account
  2. In a web browser, enter
  3. Select the meeting from your list of scheduled events.
  4. Click Join meeting.

1. When you are joining your meeting you can turn your microphone and camera on / off before joining. They are turned off when the icons are red.

2. To Mute / Unmute your microphone press the microphone button. When it is red your microphone is muted, when it is not red your microphone is ON.

3. To turn On / Off your Camera press the camera button. When it is red your camera is not sending, when it is not red your Camera is ON.

4. You can enter the Google Meet Chat session by selecting the Chat button in the top right

5. You can view a list of People in the chat with the People button

6. When you are finished, press the hang up / leave call button
