Connect to MC Wireless Network

If you are a staff member or student at Macquarie College you can use the wireless network access Macquarie College resources and browse the internet.

Students need to have completed and returned the BYOT User Agreement Form before they can access the wireless network with their device. If it is the start of a new year, students need to complete and return the BYOT User Agreement Form within two weeks of the start of school, for their access to the wireless network to stay enabled.

General how to connect to the MC Net wireless network:
1. Enable wireless on your device
2. Select MC Net from the list of available wireless networks
3. Click Connect or Join
4. When prompted for your credentials, enter the following:
username: your College username (e.g. JSmith)
password: your College password
5. If you receive a warning to install/trust a security certificate, click Connect or Accept

Connecting using Windows 10/8.1/8
If you are running Windows 8 or later, your device will automatically configure with the correct settings to connect to the College wireless network.
1. From either your login screen or your desktop Click on the System Tray Wireless Network Settings icon.
2. From the list, select the MC Net wireless network to connect.
3. When prompted enter your College Username and Password.
4. Click OK
5. You may receive a warning to install/trust a security certificate to which you will need to accept. Click Connect You should now be connected to the College wireless network, giving you access to the internet and the College intranet.

Connect using Windows 7
If you are running Windows 7, please follow these steps to connect your to the College wireless network:
1. Open the windows control panel
2. Select Network and Internet
3. Select Manage Wireless Networks
4. Delete MC Net if it is already added
5. Select Add
6. Select Manually create a network profile
7. Enter in the following details for the new connection
Network Name: MC Net
Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption Type: AES
Choose a network authentication method: Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP)
Start this connection automatically: Checked
8. Select Change connection settings
9. In the security tab select Settings
10. Uncheck validate server certificate
11. Select configure
12. Uncheck Automatically use my Windows name and password credentials
13. Select OK
14. When prompted Enter your Macquarie Username and password credentials
You should now be connected to the College wireless network, giving you access to the internet and the College intranet.

Connect using Mac OSX (MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, etc.)
To connect to the College network:
1. Click on the Apple menu
2. Select System Preferences
3. Click Network
4. Select Wi-Fi (located in the right menu)
5. From the Network Name drop down menu, select MC Net (located in the left menu)
6. You may receive a prompt to install and accept a security certificate. Click Continue. Note: You may have to disconnect and reconnect to the MC Net network to see this prompt.
7. When prompted, type your College username and password
8. Click OK
You should now be connected to the College wireless network, giving you access to the internet and the College intranet.

Connect using Android (Nexus, Samsung Galaxy Tab, etc.)
To connect to the College wireless network you need to:
1. Tap the Applications icon.
2. Tap the Settings icon.
3. Tap Wi-Fi settings.
4. Tap Wi-Fi. (Wait until you get a green tick).
5. Tap the MC Net wireless network SSID.
6. Leave the EAP method unchanged as PEAP.
7. Leave the Phase 2 authentication as MSCHAPV2.
8. Leave the CA certificate as Unspecified.
9. Leave the User certificate as Unspecified.
10. Type your College Username in the identity field.
11. Leave the Anonymous identity blank.
12. Type your College Password in the password field.
13. Tap Connect.
You should now be connected to the College wireless network.

Connect Using Apple iOS Device (Apple iPad, etc.)
To connect to the College wireless network you need to:
1. Tap the Settings icon.
2. Tap Wi-Fi.
3. Ensure Wi-Fi is switched On.
4. Select the MC Net network from the list of available networks.
5. Enter your College Username and Password in the required fields and then tap Join.
6. You may receive a prompt to install and accept a security certificate. Tap on Accept.
Once you see the tick next to the College network name you are now connected.
